🛠 Installation (Unpacked Extension)
Since Mint-Tab is currently in development and not yet on the Web Store, follow these steps to install it:
- Download this repository as a ZIP file and extract it, or clone it via git: Mint-Tab
- Open your browser (Chrome, Edge, or Brave) and navigate to the Extensions page:
chrome://extensions,edge://extensionsorbrave://extensions
- Enable “Developer mode”.
- Click the “Load unpacked” button.
- Select the folder where you extracted/cloned Mint-Tab.
- Open a new tab and enjoy!

Mint-Tab is designed to operate 100% locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, distribute, or sell any of your personal information, browsing history, or bookmark data.
To function correctly, the extension requires specific permissions, which are strictly used locally:
- Bookmarks: Used exclusively to read and display your existing browser bookmarks within the New Tab interface.
- Storage & UnlimitedStorage: Used strictly to save your local UI preferences (such as layout mode, sorting preferences, and day/night themes) and to store your custom uploaded background wallpapers.
- Favicon: Used locally to retrieve and display the website icons for your saved bookmarks to improve visual navigation.
2. Third-Party Access
Because all data processing happens locally within your browser, no data is ever sent to external servers, third-party analytics tools, or advertising networks.
